Harold Park

Harold Park Paceway was a harness racing track in Glebe until 17
December 2010 when it was closed to become a housing complex
with 1250 residential dwellings

It was around 120 years old when it closed, it was founded in 1902
•
It was first know as Forest Lodge
•
The track was also known as Epping up until 1929 but due to
confusion with the name of the suburb the name was changed
to Harold Park
•
It was a half-mile track
•
The Miracle Mile was the signature race at Harold Park Circuit
since starting in 1967.
•
On 13 February 1960, The "mighty atom" Caduceus from New Zealand
defeated Australia's Apmat in the final of the Inter Dominion. This was in
front of a world record crowd of 50,346. This was one of the defining
races of Harold Park
•
Races were run over different distances of 1,760m, 2,160m, 2,565m &
2,965m
