Joseph Banks - 1743-1820 - Botanist Born into a wealthy family Travelled widely through South America, Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia and Europe Suggested the name”Banksia” for the new country Painted mostly botanical specimens Daniel Solander - 1733-1782 - Botanist Banks and Solander collected mostly botanical specimens. Inspired the name “Botanist Bay” - Now “Botany Bay” Sydney Parkinson - 1745-1771 Employed by Banks to travel with him to the Pacific He painted a number of artworks of flora and fauna
